The Feeding of the 5,000

Mark 6:30-44

Discussion Questions

  1. Did anything in particular stand out to you either in the Scripture or from Brandon's sermon?

  2. If Jesus truly loves and cares for the disciples who are exhausted at the start of this account, why does he not just send the crowd away? What implications does this have for us today?

  3. Reread Mark 6:34. In what ways does Jesus embody the "compassionate" heart of a shepherd?

  4. In his sermon, Brandon pointed out that our shepherd-king moves towards us with both his affections and his actions, caring for both our soul through teaching us his Word and our body through meeting our physical needs. In your own life, what are some ways that you've seen Jesus faithfully shepherd you?

  5. What can we learn about our role in ministry and meeting the needs of those around us through the feeding of the five thousand?
