1 in 12 children under the age of 15 in the Loreto region of Peru are orphaned or in foster care.

Iquitos, Peru, is the largest city in the world not accessible by road.  Located in the heart of the Amazon jungle, the only way to reach Iquitos is by boat or plane.  This isolation has created many barriers and difficulties for the region.  As of 2014, 42% of the population lived in poverty, 45% of households did not have running water, and 25% of children under the age of 5 were malnourished.

Families are broken due to the ever-mounting pressures of poverty combined with other factors such as poor education, unemployment, substance abuse, and illness. Children are the ones who suffer most in these situations. Often they are abused or neglected and some are completely abandoned, left on the streets to fend for themselves. This harsh reality commands a response.

God has not forgotten his people.

Founded by Tyler and Allison Fuqua, Not Forgotten is one of Redeemer’s longest-running global partners. Tyler serves as one of our elders and we’re grateful for our partnership with Not Forgotten.
