The Servant Who Suffers for Our Sins (Afternoon)

Isaiah 52:13-53:12 & John 12:32-33

Discussion Questions

Read Isaiah 52:13-53:12.

  1. What most stands out to you in the Scripture and why?

  2. How was Jesus "high and lifted up" (52:13) and why would that have been surprising to Isaiah's original audience?

  3. Isaiah 53:4-5 says Jesus bore our griefs and was crushed for our sins. How should that bring us "peace" and "healing" today?

  4. Are there any ways you still feel weighed down by sin, even though Christ has carried these burdens for us?

  5. How does it affect you to be reminded that, like sheep, we all continue to stray from Jesus and turn to our own ways (Isaiah 53:6)?

  6. At the end of his sermon, Joel said, "the application of this passage is for us to see and savor Christ." How does this passage grow your love for Jesus? Additionally, what's one clear way you could "see and savor" Jesus this week?
