What does this passage teach us about the character of God? What does it teach us about what types of people we are called to be?
In his sermon, Cole mentioned four ways that Christians should live in light of Jesus's certain return: Remember God's Word, Expect Pushback, Trust God's Timing, and Prepare to Meet Jesus. Which of these four most resonates with you right now, and why?
Reread 2 Peter 3:8-9. How is God being patient with the world different than if God was absent from or uninvolved in the world? Can you think of a time where you mistook God's patience for his absence?
What do you think it practically looks like for us to faithfully wait (2 Peter 3:12-14) for the coming of the Lord?
If we somehow knew that the Lord was going to return at some point in the next decade,* what would you seek to have more of in your life? Less of in your life? Why?
How can we live in the tension of living with urgency in light of Jesus's imminent return and living with patience as we wait for God's timing? What might it look like for those two realities to shape the things we think, believe, say, and do this week?
