You Are Sent

Mark 6:7-13

Discussion Questions

What stood out to you most in the Scripture or the sermon?

  1. Practically speaking, what does it look like for us to live as people “sent” by God into the world on mission?

  2. Do you generally consider evangelism more of a joy or an obligation? What might it take for you to be able to truly see missional living as a joyful opportunity?

  3. In his sermon, Dwight said that "for us to have an identity with Christ is to share the purpose of Christ...not getting this is part of why so many of us feel purposeless in life." How might us living missionally combat feelings of purposelessness in our lives?

  4. Why is it significant that God sent them out "two by two" (6:7)? How could it be helpful for us to engage missionally with others rather than treating it as a solo endeavor?

  5. Read Matthew 28:18-20 and Psalm 119:105. While the thought of "making disciples of all nations" can be intimidating, it can be helpful to remember that "like a lamp to our feet," God often shows us only our next small step in faith as he sends us out. Coming out of missions weekend, where do you think might be the next step or two of faith for you take to help make disciples - whether in Birmingham or throughout the nations?
