How can we as Christians take stands for Christ/against evil without making ourselves everyone's "morality police"?
Jesus called John the Baptist the greatest among men (Matthew 11:11), yet he died alone in a jail cell at the order of those to whom he preached. What reactions do you have to seeing the "reward" he received/cost he experienced for following Jesus?
In his sermon, Joel mentioned, "…a lot of our disappointment in God comes from frustration when we do not get things we expect, but that Jesus never actually promised. What he does promise is that following him will cost us." Are there ways you can relate to this type of disappointment or that following Jesus has been very costly to you?
What things sustain you and make following Christ worth it when the cost of following Jesus is high?
Reread Mark 6:20. Is there anything about Jesus that has "perplexed" you or even tempted you to doubt Christianity?
