A Message By Which You Will Be Saved

Acts 10:19-44

discussion questions:

  1. Are there any ways that you resonate with the familiarity of the gospel, causing it to fall on "deaf ears" in your life? What has that looked like for you?

  2. How is Cornelius described in this passage? What are the implications that even an "upright and God-fearing man" like Cornelius needed to hear Peter's message for salvation (Acts 11:13-14)?

  3. Do you ever find yourself trying to earn salvation or God's love through your own actions rather than through the grace of Jesus? How does this play out in your life?

  4. What comes to mind when you hear that there is "power" belonging to Christ (Acts 10:38) and in his resurrection (Philippians 3:10)?

  5. How have you experienced resurrection power in your own life? Or if you can't think of anything, what do you think it would look like for the power of Christ to be at work in your life?

  6. What does it mean for us that Jesus both died for us and was resurrected?

  7. In this passage, we see at least three things that we receive through faith in Christ: power (vv. 38), forgiveness of sins (vv. 43), and the Holy Spirit (vv. 44). Which of these do you find most life-giving today, and why?
