The Challenge of Growing Pains

Acts 4:32-35, Acts 6:1-7

discussion questions:

  1. What sticks out to you about the description of the church in Acts 4:32-37? Is there anything we should take from their example?

  2. Read Philippians 2:14-15. The Greek word translated "grumbling" in Phil. 2:14 is the same word translated "complaint" in Acts 6:1. Why is it so important for us not to complain, grumble, or dispute with one another?

  3. How could you more fully live as someone who "does all things without grumbling or disputing that...you shine as [a light] in the world?"

  4. Reread Acts 6:4. What are the central works to which the Church is called and why do you think these might be primary?

  5. In what ways do you see Satan trying to divert churches from their primary calling of prayer and ministering the Word of God? How do you see Satan seeking to divert you personally from these things?

  6. Read 1 Peter 1:23-25. How have you seen the Word of God shape you, transform your heart, or breathe new life into you?

  7. Is there anything else from the Scripture or from Joel's sermon that stuck out to you that we have not talked about yet?
