Daniel 6

Discussion Questions:

  1. What most sticks out to you in this narrative, and why?

  2. In Daniel 6:3, Daniel is once again described as having a "spirit of excellence" that sets him apart. In our vocations, how can we pursue excellence in a way that honors God and benefits our neighbors?

  3. Daniel's name translates to "God is my judge." How does living with the conviction that God is the ultimate judge free Daniel from fear and enslavement to being judged by anything of this world? Does anything limit you from living with that same degree of freedom?

  4. Read 2 Corinthians 2:15-16. How do you see the truth of this Scripture at work in Daniel 6? How does it land on you that Daniel faithfully serves the Lord, yet it ultimately leads to others despising and persecuting him?

  5. Reread Daniel 6:10. What are some ways we should strive to emulate Daniel's example?

  6. Joel mentioned that lack of prayer should serve as a warning light for us, potentially revealing our pride, self-reliance, or a false confidence in how we're doing spiritually. What relationship do you see between your prayer life and your overall spiritual health?

  7. What are some ways that this account and the rest of Daniel 1-6 has pointed you towards Jesus?
