The Servant of the Lord (Afternoon)

Isaiah 48:1-16

Discussion questions

  1. Before looking at this week's Scripture - was there anything from studying Isaiah this Summer that has really stayed with you? Or anything from a previous Scripture/sermon that you'd like to talk through as a group?

  2. Read Isaiah 49:1-16. What most stands out to you in the passage and why?

  3. What do we learn or see emphasized in the passage about God the Father and Jesus the Servant?

  4. Read Isaiah 49:6 again. Do you ever tend to put limits on your expectations of what God can do? Can you recall a time where God far exceeded your expectations of him?

  5. Now, read Isaiah 49:14. When have you felt like God was distant or had forgotten you? How does this passage speak into that?

  6. What does the Lord's salvation actually look like for us in the present?

  7. Finally, read Isaiah 49:13-16. How can we rejoice in God's salvation even amidst hard or confusing life circumstances?
